The 30GB Zune's will start working again as soon as the day is over. The problem arised from their inability to account for the extra day in leap years. I don't know if MS is actually gonna fix this, but in case they don't... watch out for 2012![]()

So i just put dimmu borgirs Enthrone Darkness Triumphant remaster on my 30 and 120. I listened to the first to tracks on the 30. Sounds great no skipping at all. Swapped zunes and played the first track on the 120. Didnt get a minute and 30 seconds into it before that pop/skip happened. I can only assume its going to keep happening so im leaving it at that. Im so pissed because my main purpose for the 120 was to be able to fit all those "just incase" albums because i hate to have a song stuck in my head and not be able to listen to it on the way to/from work and also to fit my growing library of wma lossless rips.
Ive really only been listening to metal though as of late. So i guess i will just erase the 30 and only put on lossless(esof what im currently listening to. I hate to swap stuff on and off like that but it really pisses me off that i had to downsample my lossless files to 320kbps on the 120.
i think im going to wait for one more FW update and if the skipping is not solved then i believe im going to sell it and just stick with my favorite **** brown and green zune.
also cannot express how nice it is to go back to the circle buttons on the 30. no accidental twists.
can anyone confirm the presence of wma lossless skipping on the 80? it might be worth it for me if it doesnt skip but there's still that damned squircle. am i the only one who hates the squircle and/or has trouble with it?

I liked the squircle when I had the Zune120. It was better than the iPod's capacitance wheel, IMO. The mechanical wheel on the Sansa e2xx players is even better, and the mechanical wheel on the Sansa View is similar but with softer notches. I haven't used an older Zune so I have no idea what that wheel is like to use.

Yeah I think there's something up with the 2nd and 3rd gen Zunes. Maybe they don't have the same amount of RAM or something so they can't cache the song as well?
I recently downloaded like every Metallica album in WMA Lossless. My Zune plays it fine, just as it would an Mp3. 30GB Zune FTW!
I'm thinking about dropping the hdd from my zune 120 into my 30gb. does anyone know if the drive in the 120 is the same form factor as the 80gb? if so then i could just do the standard swap that you can find steps for all over the internet.
ive got a real boner over the idea because the 30gb can handle lossless wma without skipping (unlike the goddamn 120 that i bought for more space for my lossless). besides i really like my **** brown zune. its unique!
I don't see why that shouldn't work. I don't think the firmware even resides on the drive.

Yeah that should definitely work. Check out a guide online on how to do it. Although I'm pretty sure the hard drives for each of them are different form factors.
I think they both use the 1.8 inch drives.

specs just came out for zune hd
WMA Lossless: 2 channel up to 768 kbps
please god tell me thats 768kbps PER CHANNEL
all of my wma lossless files range anywhere from 1000-1500kbps
i dont want that goddamn popping like the 120 (as you all know my major gripe with the 120)
also if its NOT 768kbps per channel, how the eff can you get lossess at that rate? wma lossless doesnt have compression levels like FLAC. ive compared FLAC level 8 and wma lossless from same lossless source and theyre practically the same.
aside from that, drool at these new specs @
