the 360
i have played, play and will continue to play any extremely competitive FPS on the PC, like crysis, cs:s, CoD4, GRAW, Bioshock, and pretty much any quality FPS that interests me
but however i do not buy arcade style shooters for the PC (dont flame, these are games that IMO are arcade, to other people they might be just as good as css) like GoW, Halo 3, and GTA IV (is that even an FPS)
i also much prefer using gamepads for racing and action games like NFS, prince of persia, assassins creed, and i am sick of my joystick compatibility issues
to put it simply, is it worth getting an xbox 360 for me
i dont want to make my gaming fun sound sombre, but the only reason i like PCs and will continue to buy good ones is for the competitive aspect (cal, CEVO) of online FPS
i will not buy one straight away, i might wait for the blu-ray version to come out or even for the next gen xbox to come up, but seriously i am liking the idea of BUYING something, NOT WORRYING ABOUT UPGRADING EVERY TWO WEEKS A NEW GAME COMES OUT, and especially love the idea of PLUG AND PLAY as opposed to SIX HOURS OF DOWNLOADING PATCHES for PCs (well, believe me i still have a strange love for solving pc problems, i just want to have a fun center thats all, pc for me is all business whether i am writing a program or playing in a 5v5 css tournament)

I highly recommend the Xbox360 for racing and arcade style games. I have one and I absolutely love it! It's compatible with a lot of different video formats as well, which makes it a good center for entertainment since you can connect it to any PC running WMP 11 with Windows Media Connect or Zune Software. Also, if you have Windows Media Center it works seamlessly with that as well.

so you recommend it? i was looking at prices and it looks like i can get a 360 with 4 good games (not the elite, the normal, i find the elite ugly) and a 1080p 40 inch TV for 1,500 bucks, which is about the cost of a new pc (and not a very good pc, a budget one more like)
looks like i might just have to pick one up

Its pretty good. I own it, but Ps3 is overall better. 360 still owns though, get it.

why is the ps3 better? (out of curiosity)
the major points i know are free online play and blu-ray player which will save mucho bucks, the graphics are on par
but from what i know, the 360 gameplay DESTROYS the ps3 - looks like another ds vs psp fight, with PSP having boring games and the DS tearing it up with mad fun
true? and im not a cult fan, so if i get a 360, i will play halo, if i get a ps3, i will play resistance fall of man, i just want sth to have fun/racing/arcade games on (like assassin's creed)

also, just to make the situation clearer, i will play on the console what i will not play on the pc, and the only thing i play on the pc are highly polished multi-player fps
examples:
COD4
UT3
TF2/CSS
Battlefield
and thats about it lol
single player FPS as well as anything else like GRAW, Lost Planet, Jericho, although available for pc, i would definitely not mind getting for the ps3, as well as the true console games like assassin's creed etc

Really dude, once you play online, single player games just dont appeal, at least to me, anymore. Its a waste of time. Even online gaming is. haha.
I hate being more mature. When i was like 12, i could sit there for hours gaming. Now whenever i do i just think that i could be getting p00n. =D
But anyway, PS3 is better for techies. The games are fine. 360 is good if you have friends that have it, cause then you can chill and **** online. So id say go with the 360 since ur friends have it.

yeah i might go with the ps3 cause its the same price + a 499 blu-ray player (if you look at it that way)
i just want enjoyable 42 inch surround sound single player fun (im sick of online FPS tournaments with my headphones at my cramped little computer desk)

the scariest game i have ever played was bioshock honestly - i have played condemned 1 and 2, but neither were as shocking as bioshock (no pun intended)
