Damn, tomorrow we'll find out Sony kills puppies because their blood gives the paint on the PlayStation 3 its shine.

In all seriousness, I'm sure Sony isn't the only purchaser of this blood mineral. And I'd like to think they weren't aware of these atrocities...

Things like this are always looked over. Nothing will probably be done about this case either, it's just the way the current economy works sadly.

I dunno about you guys, but really, i don't give a **** if some african factions go to war so i can get cheaper raw materials. If we didn't get our goods, they'd still be fighting, and our stuff would be more expensive.

SO **** em till they stop acting like tards.

Tantalum is used in many other things besides electronics. It's very corrosion resistant to most chemicals. I use it all the time for sheaths for industrial sensors or chemical seals to protect other sensors. it's also very expensive. For instance; the cost of a thermowell to house a temperature sensor is several times the cost of a stainless steel version of the same thing.

One other point. If something is of sufficient value, people will kill to get it. You have clothing made in sweat shops, blood diamonds, gold mines that kill more workers than they help, etc. In my opinion, the problem is not the use of these materials, it's that the government in many 3rd world countries either looks the other way, or refuses to protect it's own workers. Barring the complete ban of the use of any of these items, the only other option is to force the countries involved to protect these people. We all know the chances of that happening is nil.
