In regards to Afro's suggestion - Not going to Happen.

My competition, I designed it, my rules.

Drop it.

I'm in. One of my all-time favorite board-games is Stock-Ticker. Time to start watching the markets.

I guess at the moment I'm more worried about whether the current market safe to invest or not. Given what happened recently, I'm not sure if any of us should drop our hard earned money into the pit if the situation is so unstable.

From what I understand that primarily affected financial institutions, but the ripple would probably hit just about everyone, though not as severely. Can't say this won't be fun.

Hence why this is a cashless game. No capital at stake, only $100 egg gift coming out the other end.

The volatility of the market is what will make this fun.

Without skin in the game it is really a different game though.

Can we short stocks not on the SEC banned list?
BTW three of the ones I would have shorted were just added GE, GM, AmEx.

If we can short I assume they are naked shorts?
Margin Account and call limits?

I assume from rule 8 and 11 that trading takes place after market close on Friday only?

Yes it is much less stressful and more fun esp for those not as experienced as you.

I might amend the rules to allow shorts selling but the uptick rule will apply.

For those who don't know what shorting and uptick rules are... I will edit the OP.

Yes since this fictional it would be difficult to find the stocks at a brokerage

I will most likely restrict the borrowing period to 1 week i.e. short it Friday the 3rd and you MUST purchase the stock the following Friday (regardless of price).

No margin accounts. Strict $500k initial cash only. I want to this to be simple even if unrealistic to a degree.

Correct.

It's a learning experience for everyone. BE has to learn to play by simplified rules

Extended cost is Price x Quantity. So in this case the extended cost of 20,000 shares of CPX @ $23 is $460,000.

Uptick? On a weekly closing basis? That is a joke right?

Since we only trade once a week wouldn't a T+3 settlement be three weeks?
Actually it's technically 4 weeks since trades are being executed after market close they are considered next trading day.

Position changes are due by when?
