Obama will pick Dimon as Treasury Secretary

Prediction: Obama will pick Dimon to be Treasury secretary - MarketWatch

Quote:
Though no decision has been made, the rumor is that the Obama camp has already reached out to its first choice. The eye-popper is that the potential pick -- Jamie Dimon -- has signaled an interest in the job.

I though everyone knew of ol' Jamie Dimon?

It's going to be a household name now that the Treasury Secretary has nearly been named Emperor by Congress in the bailout bill.

market watch seems to think highly of him. They give him credit for "...having built J.P. Morgan, a commercial and investment bank, into the sole hybrid financial firm that has weathered the financial crisis largely unscathed." but they don't say what his position there is. Apparently he was the president of Bank One in 2000 and became the president of Chase when it aquired Bank One in 2004
Jamie Dimon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (that's the the only think in the wiki article that's properly cited though).

i think this is a foolish pick
but also has some upside
first off i think DIMON is to close to the problems to be the right person to fix all of this

second i think this pick will give lots of investors and banks the right level of confidence to keep things sane

but over all i dont see him fixing all of this mess in the long run

That's for sure. He's spend the first 2 years fighting with Obama while cutting programs Obama wants that we can't afford. Chase use to be more human. After Bank One deal, they became greedy jerks and screwed their long term clients.

I heard on the radio this morning that the Obama campaign is set to launch a lower the expectations campaign should he win the election. Apparently he's been told his mouth has been cashing checks he can't afford to write.
