Well out here in So Cal gas prices have came down nicely. The Saleen loves that.I thought about selling it but then boom prices started falling.I've always been a careful spender so everything is good.No credit for me If I can't afford it with the cash I have I don't buy it.
Almost done with an apprenticeship for the oil refineries out here so that is good.I jumped into the apprenticeship last year when I saw this coming.(wipes sweat off forehead)
It can only get better.....Crossing my fingers!!!!

Do I even want to know what a low gas price is considered to be in Cali?

Thanks guys, I've been actively looking and semi-actively applying for some stuff but soon I'll put that as my priority (once I finally hand in my senior research)
My internship supervisor wants to bring me on as the first student intern to become a full time employee but he has to do a lot of convincing to the Feds that he needs the extra $50-60k/year to hire an intern full time
Hopefully it comes through, but I'm not making any assumptions.

Actually with the end of the summer fuel mix in California prices should have dropped nicely all on their own since they have the most expensive blend there is (as I recall it's another $.20 premium). That coupled with the drop in oil I'd guess they should be down a cool $1 from their peak.

Gas here is sitting at $2.48/gal.
I work for a local government and I'm salaried, so I don't feel the pinch personally. However, I know our revenue has taken a huge hit. Also, the state usually gives us $20 million to cover wages, benefits, etc. but they only gave us $4 million this past budget cycle.

I actually work for the City of Holland, which is about 2 miles west of Zeeland. I live about 20 minutes from Grand Rapids... surely you've heard of Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids, the 2nd largest city in Michigan. You've heard of the 3rd largest, Warren, right?

Well 2 months ago I was paying $5.15g for 91 octane and just yesterday I filled up for $3.29g.
Mind you I drive a Ford Mustang Saleen that's gets ok gas mileage as long as your idling, lol.
So its nice to see it coming down.Lets just hope it stays there.I hear OPEC might cut a couple more million barrels.I hope it backfires on them again.

The thing that is killing me and my girl is watching our grocery bill climb and climb. It's almost double now.Sure alot of it is due to the price of Diesel.I figured once prices(fuel) came down the trend would follow in the store.I'm still waiting!!!!!

I want this thread to be about the PRACTICAL, DAY TO DAY differences you have noticed.
For me, as some of you know, I sell a LOT of computer hardware. In the past three weeks, I have sold no servers at all, and only 3-4 CPUs. Since I have been doing this, I have never seen this kind of slow-down.
Furthermore, it doesn't seem like price is an issue. I have lowered prices, and even talked to competitors, and it just seems like there are absolutely no buyers out there right now.

I am sorry to say:
We've hit the end of a decades long "credit bubble" (there are many many articles on this now).
Ordinary people now expect a very severe recession or depression.
This is not hyperbole, but just accurate.
So, while moving and a young toddler have zapped my discretionary spending for now, I faced an interesting choice.
I fried my motherboard and video card (loose wire). But the 4200+x2 was still good, and everything else, and I have another old 939 chip and video card.
939
What did I do?
In a depression folks scrimp and make do.
So I bought a $50 motherboard and got out the old APG video card from a box.....
I'm sorry to say my choices are probably what 90% of people have been doing now.
What could prevent a depression? We have been discussing that in the main thread.

I just received a news detailing one of the largest manufacturing (OEM) company, Hon Hai Electronics, and Foxconn Corp, have laid off more than 100,000 workers in China.
I think this is just the beginning though.
