Yeah, I could have done more with my scores. Classes made me push it to the last minute and then I had plans come up so I did what I could. Idk, might participate next time, don't know for sure. I'm strongly considering selling off one of my systems (keep the best stuff I have and put it into one PC and sell the rest). Look for the sales threads coming soon (after my exam on Thursday) if your looking for a new, gently used, GPU, CPU, HSF, PSU, MOBO, RAM, Audio card, possibly a monitor, keyboard and mouse, case fans, case (if anybody will pay the shipping for it) they'll all be there soon

You did fine, no need to apologize. My scores were weak too, I still don't know why I can't get a decent score in 3d05 with the 4870s. The people who didn't even bother to post a score at all (not due to hardware failure) are the ones who should. If anything, I'm sorry that I was too busy with work to really keep on people about getting the scores in and cheerleading and whatnot.

Meltdown, Joe Who and Rugrat in A: 1946397
That would have been good for 4th place with no exotic cooling.
Tool, KWalker and Meltdown #2 in B: 1757077
That would have been good for 4th place.
Huddy, Logain and 1Tanker in C: 1623849
That would have been 3rd place.
Sure, other teams could have bumped their scores by rearranging teams, but XCPUs had the most to gain because we had so many teams with one dead or sick rig. Six of our teams had two of three people with good to excellent scores but problems with the third. Life goes on, XCPUs will do better next time.

I'm sorry about the team placement, I had very little time to plan them out and ended up being mainly concerned with getting everybody where their systems met the rules of the class rather than optimizing strategy. Hopefully I'll have more time next round (but they've been swearing I'll be off the insane schedule "next week" for 3 months now so I never know). If not, somebody else is more than welcome to be the team captain, and they don't have to be someone who sets monster scores themselves just someone with the time and energy to manage the team.

Somehow, I think if people saw you in a cheerleader uniform, we'd have less participants

Don't be so hard on yourself MeltDown. Work > XCPUS and we all know that even though we don't act like it sometimes It's like that message that pops up whenever I log onto FFXI: "Don't forget your friends, family, and work, etc." Sometimes, there are more important things in this world that require our attention and it just so turned out to be the last couple of months were harsh on quite a few forum members. It's just part of life. Hey, at least we still had participants
We'll get them next time And I'll make sure to participate next time

You're right Eura...i'm sorry if my post seemed heartless. I was just venting a little, and i know.. all-too-well, that ****** happens.. and real-life trumps online. It just seems like the stars were all aligned...(in a most unfriendly order) for our team...this go-round. That's why i said.. lets move on, and see if we can loosen some of the stranglehold that OCF seems to have on FWs. My apologies if i offended anyone with my selfish-sounding post.. that's not what i intended to do.

1Tanker, I wasn't trying to point fingers at anyone for anything, just making sure to remind people that crap happens. Nothing you can do about it. In the end, it's all good

I'm sorry I let you guys down I did give it a full hearted go, though. I ran into way too many problems with my setups. For some reason, I had leaks all over and spilt water on the evga board the day of results submission, so I couldn't get any scores off that setup. My S2E was crapping out on me and wouldn't oc for crap unless I set super high volts and even then it wouldn't remain stable enough to bench anything but AM3. To top it off, I can't get two of my 280's to work and windows keeps reporting some stupid code 43 error.
I have learned a lot in preparing for a benching competition like this and come the next FW, I'll be much more prepared. Besides that, my personal life will be much more stable and allow me to do more for the team. I'm in a situation that has been eating away at my soul for the past two years. But don't worry, I'm about to be out of it and free from the tyranny that is my ex-wife.

I wasn't picking on you, Melty. You've done a ton of great stuff for XCPUs benching, we all know that. My point was that 6 teams had one problem PC and what are the odds of that? I don't expect anyone to be clairvoyant when setting up teams. You guys just got unlucky this time.

I also think that this is a poor time of the year to have the war...the Feb time-frame is better for many(especially family-men). Sept/Oct sees the start of school for our kids, for the college/uni students on here.. as well as trying to get outside yard-work type stuff done before winter. There's also Thanksgiving, Halloween and starting to think about X-Mas shopping.. for many. Feb. is a pretty lax time of the year, with the exceptions of Valentines and tax-season. I may participate in the next Winter Wars, but now i know that the Summer Wars timing conflicts too much with "life".
