Disabling antivirus in Firefox 3 beta

Is there a way to disable it? If I want to scan for viruses I'll do it manually. Some how I doubt my own photobucket images contain viruses anyway. So far I like FF3, it's full of bugs and crashes somewhat frequently, but its better at memory management than FF2.

EDIT: Disable Automatic Virus Scanning in Firefox 3

Download something (anything at all) and look at the download manager when it reaches 100%.

That was going to be my question.

I hope the stuff they took out to shrink it's memory footprint wasn't the stuff that made it run stable...

I've been using FF3 since Beta1, they're now on Beta5. Since then, I've seen a lot of changes. In fact, the original one couldn't open yahoo email or hotmail.

I'd say go ahead and try it, I like it. One or two things don't quite work, but it's definitely faster and uses less memory.

I don't have any stability problems with it, personally. I can use the same FF instance for days without crashes. Memory management is excellent, it keeps the footprint down A LOT.

It still sits just under 100Mb, but that's ALOT better than FF2. I really only have problems when using blackboard vista, that's the only time it crashes. I wish my uni would drop that old *** slow software.

Yeah, FF3 seems a lot better than FF2.

    Yea.

    That's good, considering I was getting about 120 - 130, and FF3 uses like 80 - 90 mb.

FF3 breaks some websites by not showing image links, just the name of the link so I get random text on the screen.

I think that's a problem with your machine specificly, I've had ff3 since beta 1 up to beta 5 without a single problem, along with plenty of other people. Try reinstalling the latest beta, that might fix it, and besides why would you disable it anyways? It only takes a few seconds at longest

Because who the F wants antivirus scanning in a web browser? I sure don't.

Isn't that what..... antivirus software is for?

If the "problem" you are referring to is the crashes I mentioned, they are only a problm on my university website, so no real biggy. The reason I want to disable the antivirus is because those few seconds add up every time I save an image to my desktop and sit there waiting for the undefined loading bar to finish. Also...

Amen. I installed AVG to scan torrents and no-dvd cracks, I don't need firefox to do it for me and I certainly don't feel the need to scan every damn picture and text file it saves.
