I'm German, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, and French Canadian.
Eventually wont everyone be the same skin color with everyone marrying out of their own ethnicity. So everyone in the future will be the same brownish color.

Pretty good film if you dont like to read is called "Race: The Power of an Illusion"

Or you can just Google Scholar and read the various Vitamin D studies and climateology and cultural ecological debates regarding increased pigmentation of the skin.

Please do not think I am weird, the following is just a thought experiment I have done before.

Has anybody ever wondered if you were to take a large group of black people, large enough that all of their offspring can interbreed with only other blacks and not commit incest, and drop them into Alaska, would they eventually turn white? Isn't this how white people came to be basically? I'm sure they wouldn't look like Europeans, since the situation that created the European was a unique situation that cannot be reproduced. But eventually, they should start to become more fair-skinned...right? I wonder how long it would take, like hundreds of years or thousands.

Similarly, if you were to take a group of whites and drop them in sub-Saharan Africa and they can only interbreed with each other, how long would it take for them to develop darker skin genetically? Obviously we can all tan rather quickly, but we lose it pretty fast in the winter. I wonder how long it would take before darker skin would actually become genetically coded, and the white babies would actually start to be born with darker skin. Man I really wish scientists could explain evolution better, because it perplexes me when I think about it in too much detail.

Answer to question 1: Not very long if they thought it was sexy, which is hard to imagine but apparently happened before. Maybe if it helped them hide from polar bears...
Answer to question 2: a very very long time
Breeding a trait out isn't very hard. White cats bred down from colorful cats, white horses bred down from colorful horses... white people bred down from our genetic superior: the 6'tall black man; not so hard. Gaining a new trait that didn't previously exist is one of the weaker points of evolution. It has to randomly mutate into existence, for no reason, not kill the host in the process, and then be passed on. Red hair is such an example that can be fairly easily traced. It didn't exist anywhere, and then there were hot red headed girls in little plaid skirts. Isn't evolution great? Other things like "lungs" are a bit harder to track down. :/

Everyone understands the concept of "survival of the fittest" but the finer details of evolution get pretty complex. For the most part I leave it to biologists and geneticist to figure it out.

He isn't really asking about breeding out a trait. He is asking how long it would take for a trait to be selected by natural selection. Which = much longer than selecting a trait to be eliminated by breeding.

Check out "The Panda's Thumb" by Steven J. Gould if you want an easy to read book about trait morphology.
