9600GSO... which to buy?

Which card should I buy?? (for folding) 9600GSO ASUS TOP 600/1800 $748 XFX 580/1800 $699 ASUS 550/1600 $668 Other cards such as the ASUS 9800GT cost too much ($1280) or are very... unkown brands such as 'Sonar'... Which one should I get?

I would go for the ASUS 550/1600, or look for another cheaper(price-wise) brand. ASUS make good video cards, but they're generally more expensive than the others(for the same product). Both ASUS cards look like they have the same HS/F, so buy the cheaper one and overclock it. GL.

I'd go with the XFX because of the higher clocks and they are reputable.

It seems the XFX edition shares the heatsink with the XXX model which runs at 680/1800. I think I'll get the XFX...

You can't go wrong with the XFX. They make quality cards and have good support (last time I checked at least ). Asus does as well, so you can't go wrong with them either. But, in terms of bang for the buck it looks like the XFX card is going to be your best bet. If it shares the heatsink w/ XXX model you can probably overclock it pretty easily (which is what you were getting at I think).

Thanks,

-Dean

As Dean said, XFX makes great cards as well. I just figured that you might as well spend the least money, as they will all probably overclock to similar speeds. The XFX is a good choice too.

Let's see, ASUS 9600GSO 550/1600 = $668 HKD = $86 USD XFX 9600GSO 580/1800 = $699 HKD = $89 USD I'll probably go with the XFX

Plus, the XFX has the double lifetime warranty, so if you sold the card the new user would have a warranty too.

I didn't know about the double lifetime warranty. That's actually pretty cool because it helps cards maintain their value probably.

I thought I read somewhere that the XFX version has the fan running at 100% all the time. This would be kinda loud. You may want to look into this before buying it.

It would save the hassle of having to tune it to run at 100%.

I didn't realize that the prices were that close(in US$). For $3 extra, it's a no-brainer then.
