This card is LOOOUD!

Just got my 4670, it's a gigabyte and since I saw the fan was bigger than that of the saphire version I thought it would be quiet,...sort of... I thought I had a pretty loud system but when I snapped this thing in, I realized things could go much worse; It's the distinclty loudest fan in my case and the funny part comes when I see I can't throttle the fan down even with catalyst 8.10, it keeps spinning @ full revs. Tried to crank it in the bios but when I load it in RBE the fan button is grayed out,..... anyone has suggestions?!!! HEEELP MEEE!!!

Have you tried setting the fan speed with RivaTuner?

will try but I'm not hoping much; looks like this card totally lacks any fan control feature...

1 Try to change it with another card/manufacturer if possible
2 If you are extreme change the fan or mod the actual fan by adding a small resistor in order to lower the input voltage thus lower rpm
3 get an aftermarket cooler...
4 enjoy the new card ...the noise ..forget it ..put your headphones on and you are good to go!

Did you try changing it in the profile? The way we 4870 users had to do it..

Which card exactly? If we have a pic we can probably explain easily how to lower the fan speed by simply lowering the voltage going to the fan.

Thanks for the replays guys,... looking at the 4670 reviews on newegg, looks like it's a general plague affecting all the 46x0 series .

Rivatuner did NOTHING, like everything else.

@Afrodisiac
Contrarily to what happens with other ATi cards I've tried, the bios thing does not even activate the fan control when I load the bios, looks like there's nothing written about it there .

@anticupidon
1 No one else had the card of my dreams (the 4670) except this retailer
2 I'm not bad at soldering and a simple ohm's equation will give me the value of the resistor to put there,....ugly for a brand new card but looks the most probable solution at the end.
3 should be getting an accelero S2 very soon but that would make this card a lot bigger.
4 I don't enjoy much music and excessive noise makes me quite nervous.

@TSIMonster

looks complicated and pretty much useless since nothing else has worked, but maybe I will get so desperate to try that too.

@tool_462

This is the card:
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
I'd be very grateful if you helped me out; sometimes I play and then it's OK but most of the time I have to work on my PC and that noise simply kills me!!!
