    8800gt 1gb?

I was taking a browse through a bunch of e-tailers looking for the lowest price 512MB version of the 8800GT. They don't really sink below $270.00 unfortunately.

Then I came across this. This worth the extra $25+ shipping?

    NCIXUS.com - Buy Palit GeForce 8800GT 600MHZ 1GB 1024MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E 2XDVI-I HDCP HDTV Out Video Card - NE/8800TXT302.
    X3220 B3 - Gigabyte P35-DS3R - 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix - RaptorX 150GB - Zotac 8800GTX - Antec Neopower 650w - Noctua U12. Custom Lian-Li V1000 - Soon replaced by Alienware Gen.2.

Black Aurora is on the horizon.

If I had to guess, It'd be really nice to have the extra memory if you have a large monitor and run texture intense games.

Seems to be more of an epeen than anything.

It doesn't seem to come in often enough to warrant the extra price/heat. Plus the 8800GT memory sucks to begin with.

At that price, you might as well buy an XFX 8800GTS 512MB card from the egg for $319 after rebate.

Personally, if I was in your shoes, I'd just go ahead and see what the next high end from nVidia offers since you still shouldn't be hurting too badly with your current card.

Well, the GTS is a good buy, but I thought the GT was actually doing better in some instances than the GTS, and with 1gb of memory it seems pretty sweet. For example, in Oblivion at higher res the GT really flexes it's muscle:

    Am I missing something here?

Those darn Ukrainian developers don't know how to optimize I guess.

(side-note: I can make statements like this because I happen to be good friends with a Ukrainian, and he would wish that I made fun of Ukrainian developers if given the chance)
