That also seems to reference display drivers. I would either upgrade or downgrade your display drivers.

There's supposed to be testers, but I haven't used anything more complicated than a voltmeter in years...if we question the part - out it goes.

well my CTA teacher told me that it could posibly be my ram, mobo, or ps. he told me a couple things to try and i did. one was to remove the ram and then turn the system on and see if it just tries to restart, it does. then add one stick at a time. i did that and with one stick it gave me trouble but the other didnt.

i dont seem to have the problem of it not posting or anything for that matter, if i unplug the power connector that goes into the ps from the wall.

it has a friend wondered if it was the surge protector that could be causing this problem, could it? i pluged a diffrent powercable into the wall(its a thiner cable, if thats good or bad tell me 750w ps) and it booted right up.

it crashed a couple times and i dont remember what the bsod said, but it did say dumping physical memory(does it do that all the time?)

also i put my new card(9800gtx+) in early last week, could that be helping my problem become worse?

maby next weekend ill try and swap parts with a friend adn see if he has problems and if i still do.

(woot 100 posts)

Could definitely be the RAM. One of the sticks works, while the other gives you trouble? Am I reading that right? Does it work fine with just the one that doesn't give you trouble?

its the file that has the information in it that shows why the os crashed
if you reproduce the issue and get a new *.dmp file it should show who was on the stack when the failure occured
but either way it sounds like you have over clocked the system and it isnt stable or you overheated something

Everyone is offering up good suggestions ... during post a lot of things happen --

Voltages get set, drives spin up and report ready, and initializations take place.

In order --
- HD not spinning up fast enough and holding back the initialization (HD problem)
- PSU flaky, 12 VDC line may be being pulled down.
- Memory not seated
- Sticky power button (this caused me problems once).
- If you have an nVidia card -- it may be their problematic bonding problem causing the issue ... it starts happening after several power cycles and one symptom is failure to initialize.

Jack
