I've been using OCZ ram for awhile with good luck, but I'm always open to a good price/performance when building. Won't need any for a long time though. I almost bought some Corsair Doms with the fan, but wasn't sure if the fan would clear the CPU heatsink/fan setup, so I went with the OCZ.
Free stuff, I like free stuff. Give me some free stuff and I'll review it. I won't even charge for the review.

Sorry, Boss. I already went over my preset voltage limit just to get under 10s. Once I get a Nehalem rig running, maybe I'll take more risks with the 9650. I haven't learned how to ho out my ladies just yet. I guess I'm still having too much fun watching her perform to share her talents.

If they had i 4 gig kit, or even a 2 gig kit at a reasonable price, i would say Team Group's "Team Xtreem" Ram

My Ballistix absolutely fly and have been perfectly stable at well beyond their rated speeds for 9 months now... but 2x2GB kits are the way to go at this point... I probably should have bought one and sent my gaming rig up to 6GB.

My old kit of 2GB (2x1GB) Dominators 8500C5D 1066 will go up to 1200Mhz at 2.2v and 5-5-5-15, great ram.
My current OCZ ReaperX 800 4-4-3-12 4GB kit needs higher latencies to go over 830Mhz (lousy oc at cas4) but they have great bandwidth and latencies at 800 1:1 FSB, but they are thick and couldnt fit 4 of them in the mobo.
So... I sold the ReaperX to a friend and ordered a kit of Dominators 4GB 8500C5D (2x2GB) to see if the 4GB parts will be at least close to my old 2GB (2x1GB) Dominators.
As soon as I have em will do all the OC and latency tweaking (I love this Rampaged Maximus) and let you know if they are as good as their lil brothers
BTW, in fact the best heathspreader is on the Dominators, nothing gets close to it. (normal ram cool only external side of chips, Dominators cool the PCB and "internal" side)

^ very informative post, thank you for sharing that
my only experience has been with ddr2-400 (yes 400) generic 2gb ram, 2x1gb sticks, on an OEM am2 motherboard, so ill just live vicariously through posts like COW's
*edit* and cow i see your GASsing for a dtek fuzion? there was a slight disturbance over at HardForums about the dtek fuzion not being able to transfer q6600 heat to the loop efficiently, just putting it out there (although its most probably not true)

Meaning 2x2GB plus 2x1GB? Would that perform as well as just having 2x2GB sticks?

I have problems seeing colors in the red-green spectrum. Give me something in blue or gold, even old fashioned black or gray works if its cheap and dependable.

Mushkin comes in a bunch of colors too. Blue, black, and the Redline series comes in red.

Yeah I'm going to call BS on that... the D-Tek (especially with the nozzles and o-ring) and the EK Supreme are the two best waterblocks for quads. The Fuzion keeps my QX9650 to the low 40's at 100% load and 4.2 GHz, and has supported benching abuse over 4.8 GHz with very high core voltage and stayed cool.

Yeah, yeah, I'm just being picky, I know. But after days of earthquakes rocking my house and now winds trying to tear it apart, (oops, there goes some more shingles) I'm getting to where I wish I was somewhere, anywhere, but here. OK, maybe not anywhere but here, but somewhere more comfortable.
