Kingston 2GB PC2 5300 @ 1000Mhz

Just thought I would share this. I bought 3 of for $30 eacg thinking they would work well in a couple of budget PCs I was building. Well, all 3 modules are memtest stable at 1000Mhz with CAS5 latencies! Is that strange? Or have some of you experienced similar things?

These things don't even have sinks on them. I am going to grab a temp probe to see what they are like soon, but they are only warm to the touch.

Yea... check the temps. I was shocked that my Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR2 800 ran at 1000 MHz with 5-5-5-15. Of course, I took a temp gun and found out they were running at 75C at 800 MHz with 2.2V @ 4-4-4-12

Go figure... a few weeks later, one of the RAM sticks went bad

Speaking of which, I still need to RMA those sticks

Impressive for PC5300

What IC's are on the sticks? Luckily you don't have to remove a heatspreader to find out
