    - FrAgBoX - Watercooled Mini ITX Sugo SG05B system

On Halloween of this year ('09), there was a Lan Party event here in Jersey called The GXL. It was sponsored by a bunch of companies, but primarily Micro Center as well as Dell/Alienware. So for that event, I decided to build a really portable gaming rig, small enough to carry around without any problem whatsoever, but yet powerful enough to compete against other full blown gaming rig. Thus, I assembled FrAgBoX, a simple yet quite a Kickass rig.

FrAgBox (yes it gets annoying to type eventually -_- ) took some time for me to assemble. It involved a lot of planning on where to place components within such a small case. As you can see in the title, the case of choice is a Silverstone Sugo SG05B Mini ITX case. And yes you read it right, it is watercooled. My original plan was to watercool every component in the case (CPU, GPU, NB) but due to time restriction, and the fact that the card was loaned to me by my company, I had to ditch the attempt to watercool the GPU.

As you look through the images, you will notice a lot has been gutted out of the case, practically leaving only the outer frame of the case. Everything else within the case are either screwed to the frames, or hot glued into place. The reason for using hot glue was that if any changes were required, I could simply heat the glue and remove parts and start all over again.

I tried my best to arrange the wires without cutting them, but they were really long and still showed themselves. I also needed extra wiring to power the GPU I used, which required 2 PCIE 6 pins to run.

    Components are as follow:

    Case: Silverstone SUGO SG05B
mobo: Zotac Geforce 9300-ITX Wifi socket 775 board
    CPU: Core 2 Duo E8200
Mem: Crucial Ballistix Tracer black 4GB DDR2-800
    GPU: Diamond ATI Radeon 5850 1GB DDR5
HDD: 150GB WD Velociraptor w/o Heatsink
PSU: Stock 300 watt provided with the Sugo case

Water cooling parts are simple parts that I have laying around in my room:

Fans: front CM 120mm white LED mod fan, side 60mm everflow fan
    Rad: 1x120mm Swiftech rad
    CPU: Swiftech Apogee GT
NB: Swiftech MCW30 universal chipset cooler
    pump: Swiftech MCP355
Barbs: Bitspower 3/8" barbs, 90 degree and T-line Crystal adapters

Alrite, enough of the talking, here are the pictures, hope you guys will like it

Alrighty, that's it for now guys, more pics to come tomorrow or so. It's late and i gotta go to work early tomorrow

The Guts! Can we have some pics of the inside?

I always wondered if you could run watercooling in this case.

You might want to try a mITX P55 board if you ever are going to upgrade this thing.

    Looks amazing though

    WTB inside pics

I myself am just working on a mini-ITX build but in the larger Lian Li PC-Q07. I just wanted full ATX PSU and Optical Drive in a m-atx case or I would've gotten a SUGO too.

Check out the DFI Mi P55-T36, just got mine and it is quite sexy Looks funny with a 4870x2 mounted on it

I built one of these not too long ago. The only thing I hated was the way the front looked after putting in the optical drive. (we used a slot load)

Mine wasn't quite as powerful (Q9450, HD3850) but I was amazed by how much power I could fit in such a small box.

My Qmicra had a Q6700, 8800GTX, three hard drives, and an HX520. Nice little machine, although the G33 board held back some of the overclocking.

    WTB internal pics!

Why not just stealth the ODD with the slot cover that it came with?

Here u go guys more pics, along with shots of the gut The GPU is removed to show the inerts clearly.

I love how the crystal 90 degree adapter looks like its on flames Oh yeaah

Pictures of my desk at The GXL event

    Sorry for the slightly blur images. I think I lost some image quality when I reduce the size of the images to make them easier to upload. I really should use Photoshop to do so, so I could resize while still maintaining quality -_-;

Anywho, hope u guys like my build any questions feel free to ask.

Also note that in order to make the case fit both the radiator as well as the GPU, there is no other way but to shift the radiator as far away from the GPU as possible, and that means to mount the rad to the intake fan without using the screw holes. Look at image 4 and you would notice that the fan and the outer most part of the rad are flushed smoothly together. The rad is not jutting out beyond the fan. If I use the fan screw holes to mount the rad, it will jut out too much and the GPU will not fit inside the case whatsoever. By flushing the rad with the fan, the GPU fits in the case, albeit the PCB still touches the rad, and so I had to put layers of electrical tape to prevent any chance of shorting. Oh, and you're wondering how I mount the rad to the fan? Huge amount of hot glue I love hot glue gun, makes life so easy.

Another thing, since the 5850 has the power pins on the end of the card and not the top, I had to bend the frame of the case to allow the card with the power connectors plugged into the card to get into the case, and then just bending the frame back into place. You can see it in image 5, how the frame is warped outwards.

Yeah, mITX is awesome n fun to work with.

Tool, yeah I saw dat board but I'm not upgrading this guy, it was just a curiousity project of mine n I dont intend to keep it. I want to sell it off to whoever wants to buy it for a good price around my area, or maybe craigslist.

LOL, i know right? I was trying to figure out what he was saying, and I was like uhmm.....wat??

RKH, dat cost me about 400-500 more or less, without the GPU of course since it was loaned to me. Most of the parts (HDD, heatsinks, RAM) were from those laying around my house.
