Hey cutie, finally get rid of the Hannavatar?

[BackOnTopic] This isn't officially supported by Microsoft, so I want to see any kinks worked out, and someone to do a direct visual comparison and review about it.

I'm sure there are allot of bugs in it. DX10 was a complete redesign and doesn't integrate into the OS the same as older DXs did. As i understand it Vista manages drivers in a different way and DX10 uses that different method as well. Now if this guy is able to port all the libraries over for XP then great. I won't have to by a new OS in the next 3 to 5 years when i build my next system.

Like the article said its been altered so that you don't need DX10 enabled hardware to get the DX10 features. This probably means you'll have a good bit of lag time in the game while the system is working to render the extra features. Also be weary of the images posted there. Those are from an older article back before DX10 was released and before DX10 cards where available. The DX9 shot is an actually screen shot from Flight Sim but the DX10 shot is an artists rendition of the same seen showing what DX10 was expected to look like. So don't go thinking this is a for sure thing because of those screen shots.

This is not a MS project and it has nothing to do with SP3 for XP.

mpilch you 're right as usual
this will work as a dx10 emulation so xp will render dx9 then dx10 extra features or will be like this... directly render the scene in dx10?

I suspect that it will render the DX10 affects to some exstent. But chances are the way its doing it will slow down the system quite a bit. Thuse making it a complete waste. But i guess you'll have to download it and see how Crysis plays out. So you'll need to compair scenes from that and Vista.

I don't know if it supports two quads, but we have plenty of PCs at work running dual Woodcrest dual-cores on XP.

I didn't think XP had a limitation in the number of CPUs/Cores.

My thoughts exactly. Reminds me of the Vista Transformation Pack I tried, which emulates the look of Vista in XP. It was free and worked but was buggy and surely not worth the trouble.

Anyway, I can only think of Crysis as a reason to get DX 10 right now, but my video card really isn't powerful enough for that.

CPU emulation of DX10 code is gonna be slow as hell so I hope it doesn't do that. Oh well, I might give it a go if it doesn't need DX10 hardware.
