NVFLASH issues (MAN IT SUCKS!!)

Alrity guys, I seriously seriously need your help here, n hopefully at least one of u have done an Nvidia GPU bios flashing lately.

I have been thinking about flashing my 9800 GX2 bios with a modded/OC'ed version of it. I use Nibitor v4.5a to extract the bios off my GPUs (there's 2 bios apparently, i assume due to the dual GPU), changed the clockrates n voltage n the fan speed on each of them, and I save them as rom files. I call them i1mod.rom and i2mod.rom.

Now I am using nvflash v5.63 dat i download off guru3d.com. However i have been having such a F***ing hard time with it for the past 3 days and no matter which version I use, it just keeps giving me problems.

First issue, I cannot use nvflash to create a backup of my bios (see pic below). Everytime i try it i keep getting the same error, dat write eeprom to file failed, I/O error: Cannot create file.

2nd issue, ok so I use nibitor to do so, n now i have a modded bios, n i wanna flash it onto the GPU. I get this error: I/O error: Cannot Open File: i1mod.rom

I've ran nvflash -r before hand but it doesnt do any difference. I see under help dat there's lots of other options but I dont wanna mess around with something I dont know.

I dont know if it has anything to do with my flash drive or how I booted into DOS (I use those tool discs dat comes with a brand new boxed HDD). Those are the only options i have to boot into DOS since I do not have a FD drive.

I really really do hope dat someone here could help me with this since there's not much found around the net to help me through it. Please help

I used the HP flashing tool and a guide on OCZ's website to get the flash drive bootable.

What I did to flash my 260 was use GPU-Z to make a backup of my current BIOS. Then, I used the nVidia BIOS editor to modify a copy of my original, so I still had the original.

Next, I put the nvflash program stuff and the BIOS file onto the drive, and ran the command I found in a guide online. I'm trying to find it now.

Please use thumbnails

Try using:

Code:
nvflash -5 -6 -i1 i1mod.rom
You don't need to backup the BIOS, you've already extracted it using NiBiTor (of didn't you save the originals?). Just be sure the originals are on our flash drive.

Stupid question, I know...but is the .rom file actually there and named what you're inputting?

If so, try inputting the full path of the file; IE d:\***.rom instead of just ***.rom.

YMAA, yeah i had my flash drive bootable, but for some reason the mobo didnt wanna boot onto it, i forgot wat it said. but for the rest of the steps u took, i did those as well.

Randomizer, hehe but i dont know how to make them into thumbnails (my bad ) I do still have the original bios files, n they are on the flash drive.

sirrobin, yes the files are in the same root n named as is. I might try dat way, hopefully it will work, but for some reason I have my doubts dat its cuz of dat.

Do u guys think it has anything to do with it being on a usb drive?

I wonder if it's a problem with the 9800GX2. Remember, the card is SLI with two GPUs, so it theoretically should have two BIOSes to flash. It's possible that the program is getting confused as to which BIOS to update so it just throws an error.

YMAA, nvflash knows dat there are 2 bioses to flash. as u see in the input text:

d:\nvflash -i1 i1mod.rom

-i1 forces nvflash to flash to gpu 1. If i simply write:

d:\nvflash i1mod.rom

nvflash will ask to choose between the 3 options, sli bridge adapter, GPU1 or GPU2.

If you are absolutely sure these settings will work with your card, try:

Code:
nvflash.exe -4 -5 -6 -a -y -i1 i1mod.rom
