UneIT - Intel Core i7 940 in Real Test

Intel Core i7 940 in Real TestbyUneIT

    More on the website.

    EDIT:

    Specification

    http://diy.pconline.com.cn/cpu/revie...1426985_9.html

It is interesting to note that they used 3Gb of DDR3-1333 RAM for Nehalem, while only using 2Gb on QX9770. It makes me wonder if you must fill the tri-channel in order for Nehalem to work.

I can hope they ran this comparison QX9770 with DDR3 at least...but it looks like they might not have?

Too little info about the setup..

Since this is the Extreme part number it can ALSO run DDR3 in Tri-Channel mode. Were the everest numbers on DDR3 Tri or dual channel just like the Q9770 would be even if DDR3

Ok, so from this, I think we can safely assume that they are using DDR2 on that system.

Yeah...hence my excitement over the Everest results. To me, it doesn't matter how they ran the QX9770..i'm not comparing, i'm just looking at straight results. I know that Intel quads get 6-7k, and up to 10k with extreme overclocking... and AMD quads are in the 8-10k range... so that's all i need to know to realize that 15-16k is outstanding.

I did not see the specs on that page when I reloaded.

Just the CPUz of a single system.

Did not see if it was tri channel or dual channel.

DDR3 - 1333 on both, Dual on the Core2, Tri on the i7.
    Think, Hold that thought, Complete.

Would be interesting to see Dual Channel Config against Dual Channel Config.

I think it's because of the imc on Nehalem and the memory bandwith that's been utilized to it's extent that's giving those results. Maybe AMD should have cheesburgered there quads like Intel did. What I mean is look at the results Intel is getting with ddr3 instead of using ddr2 on there on board memory controllers. It's something to think about.
