    koolance cpu-330 review

Koolance CPU-330 Water Block Review (compared against FuZion APOGEE GTX, Tuniq Tower) - HardwareCanucks
Looks like koolance's block sux *** as predicted, but most importantly, in the review there's a comparison between the gtx and fuzion. The gtx I believe had the alu top, so if you bought the cu top gtx the performance would probably be exactly the same of the fuzion's.

What does the top material have to do with block cooling capability? The two halves are seperated by an o-ring so not much heat conducts through.

By the way, all those temperatures he's got are insane! My quad runs cooler at higher speed than an E6400??? Kinda hard to swallow that one. And the idle at 56C on the Tuniq? I think maybe he used too much Ceramique or something.

That's a shame, because Koolance's stuff is quite attractive, and the base was polished to perfection.

    Looks like Swiftech FTW!
    I'm back with my desktop!

    Nvidia Quadro FX 770M

    320 GB HDD (7200 RPM)
    1280x800 LED
    Backlit Keyboard
    Win 7 Pro 32-bit

I guess it ceases to be relevant now...

It's possible, but here is the test bed radiator:

    Magicool dual 120mm radiator with 2x Yate Loon D12SL-12 @ 12V

    Maybe yours is better?

In their roundup review, they show an Al top GTX and I can't find a mention of getting a Cu top but if they had one I wouldn't be surprised. The thing is, they had issues mounting the GTX and load temps that varied by 10C. That's huge. Coupled with a few other very questionable reviews I've read on that site, I have a hard time placing any confidence in the 2C difference HW Canucks reported between the GTX and the Fusion.

Agreed. Go read a bunch of HW Canucks other reviews. There are numerous examples of odd numbers and other issues that makes me question their ability to conduct accurate, reproducible measurement science. Some of their folks may be capable, but it's up to the site admins to ensure consistent QC or how can you trust anything they publish?

Yeah I have a better radiator but there shouldn't be much heat at all produced at idle and his numbers are nuts there. My load temps are better than what he reports for idle, my radiator isn't that much better, especially with the northbridge and the GPU both dumping heat in the loop as well for me.

Wow, that is troubling, especially if it's cooling an 8800 Ultra too. I think you're right, too much Ceramique is probably the issue.

Koolance designs their blocks for THIER systems.. Their systems are not high flow systems. I think their best system does 8L/m, or hour I forget. It's all designed for that.

But aren't you supposed to put a lot of ceramique unlike as5?

I've done two separate 1 rice grain vs. 2 rice grain experiments.

    1 rice grain FTW.

Edit: In fact, I think ceramique is for smoother HS/IHS interfaces so less should be better.

No matter what the thermal goo in question is, it's always possible to use too much and always possible to use too little. The ideal amount varies between thermal compounds but the performance always suffers if you use too much or too little.

I debated between AS5 and Ceramique for the GPU in my system since the G80 wasn't mirror finished the way the waterblock was but decided to go with Ceramique since that's what was recommended for the waterblock.
