Not many numbers, it's basically just a ranking of the 20 cards he tested and it's not something we really didn't know already. It is pretty funny that the 9600GSO can out-fold cards 10x it's price. He didn't really answer the question (which is really a statement) of "Why ATI sucks at folding?" either.

did you see his reply to your comment brent?
Sounds like he's not to bright, honestly.
We could do an article like that and do a much better job of it. Shoot, I can give the PPD for at least 7 different cards (currently 8800GTS320, GTX260, 8800GT, 8600GT, 4870, 3850, 3870)

I said that he should have included some overclocking info, like how much gains one should expect from overclocking. I commented as AFROWUT.

I'm not convinced he actually folded on those cards himself, but simply gleaned some info from various sites for the blog post.
His FAH name+team only shows him folding for about 2 days now.![]()

Question:
Does F@H run differently at all in different condition PCs?
For example:
****ty, aircooled AMD Single core rig with 256MB DDR RAM and a 9800GTX+
and
An awesome, sleek, well-optimized QX9650 water-cooled system with a beefy PSU, 4GB of good ram, etc etc, and the same 9800GTX+ at the same clocks.
Any difference in PPD?

Minimal difference for the GPU client in the above mentioned scenarios b/c over 99% of the code is executed exclusively on the GPU and stored within the GPU RAM. There are not a lot of calls to the CPU (w/ ATI folding, this is less true, but in general still holds true).

Afro, so far I haven't noticed a difference when switching my cards around. None of the PCs have been extremely bad, but for AMD X2s, e21X0, to wolfdale, to Kenstfield, the cards achieve within 1% of the same PPD.
There is, however a big difference between vista and XP. Both the GPU and SMP clients gain a good PPD with vista.
With ATi folding, there is like a 2-3% difference between the slower stock clocked allendale and the super fast wolfdale (I haven't tried the quad with an ATi card)

Still...one of Theo's more "useful" articles....at least that i've seen. Real pity that he didn't list the PPD's. I think there's been some question WRT how the workstation cards Fold.... looks like the Quadro does well....though PPD/$ would be disgusting.![]()
