Don't know if this was already posted. I don't feel like scanning through all 9 pages to find out.

Some pretty cool alternatives to the iPad, with feature comparisons:
Seven alternatives to the Apple iPad
    Seven more iPad alternatives

I wish some of those had been hyped half as much as the iPad has been because some of them are, IMO, much cooler and more practical products. The only one of those that I'd heard of before today was the Adam.
    Core2Quad 9550 | ASUS P5Q Pro | 8GB Patriot DDR2-800 | XFX Radeon HD 5870 | SeaSonic X750 Gold | Antec P180B
    Phenom X2 7750 | MSI K9A2 Platinum | 2GB OCZ DDR2-1066 | VisionTek Radeon HD 4870 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Thermaltake Shark
    Athlon X2 5600+ | EPoX MF570SLI | 4GB GeIL DDR2-800 | 2x EVGA GeForce 8800GT | Thermaltake ToughPower 700W | Apple PowerMac G5 case
    Athlon XP 2800+ | MSI KT4V-L | 2GB Kingston DDR-333 | HIS Radeon 3850 AGP | Antec NeoPower 480W | custom painted case
    Athlon 1.333GHz | MSI K7T266Pro | 1.4GB Kingston DDR-266 | 3dfx Voodoo 3000 PCI | generic 250W | custom Lexan SFF case
    Preshottt 3.2GHz | Gigabyte GA-945GCM | 2GB Mushkin DDR2-800 | Intel GMA 950 | FSP Saga+ 450W | Systemax Tiger μATX case

A simple lie brings you down in an ordinary way.

There may not be an "i" in Team, but there is a "WePad"
WePad comes out of tablet hiding, reveals its €450 price and August availability

Also ... 6 more tablets are coming:
Archos promises six Internet Tablets this summer for hands of all sizes

Personally, I doubt the hoopla about the iPad will last like the one with the iPhone or even iPod

I decided to put this here instead of starting a new thread

Man loses part of finger in iPad theft - Tech and gadgets- msnbc.com

Fifty-nine-year-old Bill Jordan says he just purchased Apple's latest must-have item at Cherry Creek Mall on Thursday and was near the parking garage when a thief grabbed the bag tied around Jordan's hand.
He says the bag wouldn't come off and the thief yanked it so hard that it stripped part of Jordan's pinky down to the bone. Doctors later amputated part of the finger.
You know, I have zero sympathy for criminals like this jackass. I hope they catch the guy and I hope he's elegible for life. It's amazing that someone would go to such trouble for this item. That in itself proves this guy is beyond redemption for life amongst polite society. Better he just spend the rest of his in jail.
You thought you had finally had done something strikingly new and original, but it turns out that thousands of people already in the afterlife got there the exact same way you did. - Sagittarius

I think it was actual a finger theft gone wrong, so it should read: "Man loses iPad in finger theft!"

It would be one thing if it were really something important like a military operation, or a new skittles flavor. Apple takes themselves way to seriously. I look at those old photos of Woz and Steve. Woz has that geeky look you see where they are excited about something and giddy to tell other people about it. Steve always had what I call a superior smirk. He didn't seem to be excited about the tech, he was excited about the praise and esteem he could garner out of it. He looked like he thought he was the master of his own universe and everyone else must bow down to him. I still see that in his smile.

Does it still work if it wasn't caused by iSmugness? I would be good to know for future reference........

iPad lovers get their own chair!!!
Elite Home Theater Seating has come out with a dedicated iPad chair. The chair, which can be had for just under $2,500, comes with a dedicated holder for the tablet from Apple as well as a motorized recliner, "strategically placed lumbar support, elbow positioning and a seat cushion normally found in a European sports car,"

    * And it does not come with its own iPad NOR does it massage
