Welcome Back!

I apologize for not getting this up and done sooner. Needless to say the forums, and the front page got hacked, we since then have locked things down, and things appear to be better over all.

I was able to get the front page done sooner, but the forums with all of its data was MUCH more difficult to deal with. Needless to say, I just finished it! YAHOO!

Just in time with Facebook about to take a nose dive, and doing other crazy things to people. (Censorship, etc etc).

  • AMD Threadripper 2990X

In an attempt to breath life into the forum once again I give you this. AMD threadripper 2990X 32C/64T CPU capable of just monstrous workloads for HEDT platforms is coming out soon (no official date when you can get product in hand).

With a 250W TDP, 32 Cores, 64 Threads a base clock of 3.4GHz and quad channel memory, I really want to know how it will perform running things like StarCCM+ to model Computational Fluid Dynamics (with graphics card support) and what it can do other engineering software like solidworks. I honestly don't think it will have much on programs like Adobe Premiere since Premiere just released its new optimization for Intel 8th gen processors with on-board graphics

Also it's ability to virtualize may come in very handy if you wanted to set up several workhorse VM's and attach them to thin clients. I want to try a multi-client gaming config or several engineers using Solidworks over virtual machine form a thin client.

Well I have one thing to say....

    BAD ***....

I apologize for not seeing this earlier, I went on vacation on the 22nd, and didn't get back until yesterday.(The 3rd)

I was wondering when they were going to push 32 cores. After seeing some of the delidded 1950's and seeing 4 packages, I was pretty hopefull that we'd see them. 3.4GHz on all 32 Cores is not shabby at all. I only hope that programs become more .... multi threaded. I do a lot of encoding, and most encoding applications do not span across more than 6 cores(12 threads).

Welcome back Suavey! We missed you guys.

    Thanks,

    Michael

I'm hoping to buy one of these and build several VM's to help segment my computing a little better. Help me avoid playing games when I shouldn't be and have the ability to run thin clients in some interesting ways. Needless to say I'm really excited about this upcoming release.
