Welcome Back!

I apologize for not getting this up and done sooner. Needless to say the forums, and the front page got hacked, we since then have locked things down, and things appear to be better over all.

I was able to get the front page done sooner, but the forums with all of its data was MUCH more difficult to deal with. Needless to say, I just finished it! YAHOO!

Just in time with Facebook about to take a nose dive, and doing other crazy things to people. (Censorship, etc etc).

  • Silverstone TJ-09 USB 3.0 upgrade

Well, seeing as this case was pretty pricey, as well as, I still love it till this day and do not want to get rid of it, I figured I would go ahead and upgrade the case to today's standards in regards to external I/O ports. I found this to be pretty easy and you only need two tools. An Allen wrench and a Philips screw driver. Total install time took 30 minutes.

This is from Silverstone's web site.

    USB 3.0 Cable Upgrade Guide

    1. After loosening three screws, detach left side panel gently.

    2. Use allen wrench to loosen four screws and detach front I/O unit from case gently.

For earlier versions of TJ09, please loosen four screws from inside the case to detach the front I/O unit.

    3. Loosen two screws located on the back of front I/O unit.

    4. Loosen two screws on both side of front I/O unit.

    5. Loosen four screws near front I/O module and detach it gently.

    6. Install USB 3.0 front I/O module (part number: G11303500) and secure with screws.

    7. Install new aluminum front I/O cover (part number: SILVER: G10106112 / Black : G10106122 ) and secure with screws. Assemble other parts back in reverse order carefully.
Your case is now USB3 ready.

Nice find. I was fortunate enough that my HAF 932 advanced had 3.0 usb. My 922 didn't but does now since the P67 extreme4 I used to run in it had a usb 3.0 setup that fit in an external 3.5" bay. I left it in there. My file server has no need for 3.0 and I cannot find the cover from my 922 anyway.
