Welcome Back!

I apologize for not getting this up and done sooner. Needless to say the forums, and the front page got hacked, we since then have locked things down, and things appear to be better over all.

I was able to get the front page done sooner, but the forums with all of its data was MUCH more difficult to deal with. Needless to say, I just finished it! YAHOO!

Just in time with Facebook about to take a nose dive, and doing other crazy things to people. (Censorship, etc etc).

  • Accidentally jumped 3 pin fan header... Fixable?

I'm going to be curious to see who's still here ...

A few months ago I needed to jumper clear the CMOS on an old X58 rig. When I went to put the jumper back I accidentally jumped two pins of the adjacent fan header. When I booted back up the fans went to max, smelled the wonderful smell of electronics frying, shut it down immediately. 5 seconds later it rebooted itself, switched off PSU to get it to stop.

My question is... is anything salvageable? Is just the motherboard dead? Or more, based on experience? I'm in the process of testing drives attached, figured I'd ask in case the cpu/gpu or any addin cards might still be good.

Wow.... So... You maybe able to savlage some stuff on there. Video card, cpu, memory, etc etc should all still be good. The problem is X58 mainboard is going to be a little difficult to find...

It's worth a try of course!
